Scottsdale pays out $200,000 for wrongful arrest settlement

The city of Scottsdale is settling a wrongful arrest lawsuit in the United States District Court, District of Arizona for $200,000.

The Scottsdale City Council approved the settlement with Yessenia Garcia in its consent agenda during an April 4 meeting.

The lawsuit relates to the arrest of Garcia on May 25, 2020, for driving under the influence and causing a hit and run accident with injuries in Scottsdale, which reportedly were proven to not have happened.
