Scottsdale mom pens two books with son while quarantined miles apart

Hilda Villaverde, of Scottsdale, and her son in California, Ron Fusselman, may differ on accounts of whose idea it was to write their life story together, but one thing for certain is the bond bound by two co-written books and a genuine love for each other.

“My mom has inspired me in so many ways, but if I was going to think of one, it would [be] her amazing lust for life and drive to be a better person,” he said. “Something interesting about us is that we don’t always agree on everything but we make a great team!”

While quarantining in their separate homes, they teamed up to write and co-authored two, easy read books: “Dear Son, Dear Mom — Thoughts I Wanted You to Feel” and “Dear Son, Dear Mom — Lessons I Learned from Somebody,” which Ms. Villaverde described as small books after input from her son who informed her that guys “don’t like big books.”
