A new memorial honoring more than 60 fallen service members hailing from Scottsdale is moving forward after several years in the works.
On Aug. 23, the Scottsdale City Council approved on consent a donation agreement for Scottsdale Memorial for the Fallen, a proposed monument to be built east of Scottsdale City Hall, and adjacent to the existing military veterans service memorial.
The Memorial for the Fallen first entered Scottsdale’s purview back in 2015, when the parks and recreation board reviewed the plans and Development Review Board gave approval to the idea and design. Since then, United States Marine Corps Maj. Jim Geiser has been working to bring the memorial to life.
