By her own account, Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky’s first 44 days in office has been “a wild ride.”
“I was hopping for a honeymoon, a honeymoon phase, but (it’s been) baptism by fire,” Borowsky said at her first state of the city address Feb. 26 in what was more of a fireside chat with Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Mark Stanton than a straight speech. “(City Council) came out of the gate very, very strong and we’ve got ourselves lots of headlines ... some good, some very controversial.”
Since Borowsky took office, the Scottsdale City Council has repealed the city’s sustainability plan, eliminated all Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs and passed a resolution that could require all city employees working remotely to return to the office.
