Scottsdale Mayor Borowsky feels attacked by Scottsdale Edge for political reasons

Locals say political consultant behind anonymous Scottsdale blog

Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowksy recently said she was the latest victim of anonymous blog The Scottsdale Edge when reports were published late last month suggesting she was trying to kill a $1.6 million city design contract for a parking garage planned for Old Town to let a local developer with whom she is friends build it.

Borowsky says she did enlist the help of Scottsdale-based developer David Hovey Jr., president of Optima, to give her ideas for the garage’s design earmarked for First Street and Brown Avenue, but never intended him taking on the project. Likewise, in an email to the Daily Independent, Hovey wrote the project is not the type of development he does and that he never intended to be involved with it in any official capacity.

“Someone is really desperate to cause trouble, I mean grasping at straws to cause trouble,” Borowsky said. “Which is unfortunate because why? It’s distracting. It was all designed to discredit me before the state of the city address.”
