Scottsdale looking to raise water, sewer rates

Part of the increase could go toward buying other organizations’ excess Central Arizona Project water

The Scottsdale City Council is expected to start the process to increase water and sewer rates at its Feb. 24 meeting.

Part of the increase in water rates is proposed to go toward buying up other organizations’ share of excess Central Arizona Project water, which currently makes up about 70% of Scottsdale’s water supply.

City Manager Greg Caton sent Mayor Lisa Borowsky and the rest of the city council a memo on Feb. 19 warning them about the uncertainty involved with drawing water from the Colorado River, which feeds the Central Arizona Project.
