Former tennis pro building a Valley retail empire

Alixandra is a family-run fashion destination

For many former tennis pros, life after the tour is uncertain. But for Alixandra Chesno, the transition from the court to the retail world became a story of reinvention.

At just 11 years old, Chesno (whose maiden name was Alix Creek) left home to pursue life as an athlete. She earned a scholarship to train at the prestigious Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Florida, the same program that produced legends like Andre Agassi, Jim Courier and Monica Seles.

Chesno played collegiate tennis at the University of Arizona from 1990 to 1993, becoming the Pac-10 singles champion in 1992 and 1993 and the Pac-10 doubles champion in 1992 with Danielle Scott.
