Scottsdale hotel immigration facility draws mixed response

SUSD officials fine after tour, Arizona Attorney General states ‘grave concerns’

Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich is urging representatives of the Scottsdale hotel being used as a temporary immigration facility to reconsider its plans, calling the situation a “grave concern.”

However, the local superintendent who toured the Scottsdale Road hotel facility on June 8 says there’s no security concern to students at Chaparral High School — just one block from the location — and dispelled many rumors floating around.

At the root is a Emergency Family Staging Center operated by the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement at a hotel called Suites on Scottsdale, or Homeward Suites, at 9880 N. Scottsdale Road.
