One week after winning the first Open-Division State Championship Title, Peoria’s Liberty High School’s senior quarterback Navi Bruzon won the 2023 Ed Doherty award for Arizona’s most outstanding high school player of the year.
This is Liberty’s first Open Division title in school history.
All 77 Ed Doherty medalists this year were recognized by the Grand Canyon State Gridiron Club (GCSGC) at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort & Villas on Saturday, Dec. 9. Bruzon is the 42nd Ed Doherty award winner, with past winners including San Fransico 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (2017) and Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson (2018 and 2019).
