GiGiFit builds strong bodies for children with Down syndrome

The love and dedication a parent can feel for a child are unrivaled by any physiological connection discovered in the known universe but for parents facing a new Down syndrome diagnosis, the effect can be a cruel surprise and unrevealing mystery.

Learning how to communicate, showing the affection one may feel, and putting that child in the right environment to flourish can be emotionally daunting — and for many, a financial hurdle that feels insurmountable.

“With a Down syndrome diagnosis families are burdened with the financial commitment to a lifetime of educational and therapeutic programs,” said Stephanie Gage of GiGi’s Playhouse, which is based in north Scottsdale. “Many will face additional health-related issues related to this diagnosis.”
