Scottsdale gas prices outpace national average by 40 cents a gallon
The national average for a gallon of gas has been hovering around $3.82 for nearly two weeks, but that’s far from what drivers at the pumps in Scottsdale are seeing.
The latest figures from AAA Arizona show prices in the city are averaging $4.25 a gallon as of Saturday, and that is up from $4.12 a week ago.
The Arizona average is $4.03, according to AAA, and, like Scottsdale, a 13-cent hike from last week.

The Arizona average is $4.03, according to AAA, and, like Scottsdale, a 13-cent hike from last week.
The national average, which just ticked up to $3.85, remains more stable, AAA officials said, adding the lack of movement comes despite an increase in demand and rising oil prices.
“We appear to be at a fork in the road when it comes to which direction gas prices will take – up or down,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson.
“The summer heat that kept people home and suppressed refinery production has eased for now, so we have to look at the cost of oil to determine if the recent price climb is ending. More expensive oil will likely lead to higher prices, so stay tuned.”
