Scottsdale Fire Department seeks grant funding for cancer screenings

In addressing the health of the city’s firefighters, Scottsdale Fire Department is working to secure funding for a comprehensive cancer screening program that would help to diagnose and treat firefighters in a timely manner.

According to a city staff report, the city of Scottsdale applied for assistance firefighter grant funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for a total of up to $848,313 for fiscal year 2022-23.

If the department receives the grant, up to $771,194 will be taken from the future grant or grant contingency budget and transferred to a new grant operating center responsible for the AFG grant.
