Scottsdale Fire Department crews responded to a brush fire at a construction site near the intersection of Lone Mountain and Scottsdale roads this morning.
The fire, which burned approximately 50 feet by 50 feet of brush, has been fully extinguished, according to a press release by the Scottsdale Fire Department.
Crews remained on scene for an hour, conducting mop-up operations to ensure the area is secure and that no hot spots remain.
The incident originated from a construction site where a spark unexpectedly traveled more than 20 feet and ignited nearby dry vegetation.
The construction crew had precautionary measures in place, including a hose line, a designated fire watch and fire extinguishers. They immediately called 911 upon seeing the fire — a step the fire department encourages all members of the public to take when witnessing smoke or flames.
Three brush trucks were deployed to the scene, each part of Scottsdale Fire’s enhanced summer wildfire response. These specialized units patrol actively throughout the wildfire season, conducting rapid response operations, assessing threats, and inspecting hazardous vegetation in local communities.
