Scottsdale entrepreneur arrested on federal fraud charges

Hospitality entrepreneur Aaron Wagner, who had once proposed a swanky new restaurant in Old Town called Swags, has been indicted in federal court on 16 counts of various financial crimes, including wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, transactional money laundering and concealment money laundering.

Wagner, 42, originally was charged with his business partner Michael Mains, 46, on Oct. 23, by the FBI and indicted by a grand jury on Nov. 6.

The two business partners are accused of defrauding private investors and lenders in restaurant businesses such as Dirty Bird, Everbowl and Crumbl Cookies.
