Scottsdale could start operating public ambulance service

City officials hope to have the plan running by next year

Scottsdale could have its own city-run ambulance service as early as next year.

Scottsdale Fire Chief Tom Shannon plans to have 24 new firefighters tied to ambulance service ready for an August academy start date.

That means the three-year phase in of the program could begin in 2025.
