Lucas Haldeman was the chief technology director for a large real estate company headquartered in Scottsdale when he got an idea.
He was looking for smart equipment for apartments but nobody made anything like that, so seven years ago, Haldeman founded SmartRent, which makes smart devices for apartments.
“Most renters have not been able to have smart homes,” Haldeman said. “It’s really been almost exclusively for single family homeowners and now with our product, renters are going to be able to enjoy that modern life style of living in a smart apartment.”
