Scottsdale commission approves set asides for community initiatives

Scottsdale’s Human Services Commission approved $863,226 in set aside requests for various city initiatives from its community development block grants for the 2023-24 fiscal year during the commission’s Dec. 8 meeting.

Each year the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development provides grants around the country through the CDBG program to “develop viable urban communities” by creating housing and other components for people with low to moderate incomes.

At the meeting, Interim Community Assistance Manager Mary Witkofski reviewed the purpose of the CDBG and what programs they’ve identified for funding.
