Scottsdale City Manager Greg Caton has some council members concerned the creation of a new financial services division under his purview is eroding the city’s financial transparency.
However, Caton said the creation of the new divisional is aimed at creating system efficiencies by bringing existing city staff who were working on the budget in their respective departments together under one roof.
Caton announced the creation of the division in a memo to Mayor Lisa Borowsky and the rest of council dated Jan. 20.
