Scottsdale city government responds to 5th Avenue road closure fiasco

Three weeks after an unnecessary road closure on Fifth Avenue cost some local stores as much as an estimated 75% of their business for three weeks, Scottsdale city officials have take steps to rectify the situation to make sure the scenario never happens again.

The road closed sign at Fifth Avenue and Goldwater Boulevard came down July 11 and has been replaced with a businesses open sign though crews will have Fifth Avenue closed at Indian School Road closed until July 23 to work on a water pipe to service a condominium complex earmarked for the area.

Business owners got no warning ahead of time about what was about to happen.
