Scottsdale City Council still not filing lawsuit challenging legality of SB 1543

After voting Sept. 9 to remove an item their agenda that would allow Assistant City Manager Luis Santaella file a place holder for a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Senate Bill 1543, the Scottsdale Council then voted in a special meeting Sept. 12 to file the place holder but stopped short of actually moving forward with the lawsuit.

After a second meeting in four days on the subject, the City of the Scottsdale is still not going to sue the state over the constitutionality of Senate Bill 1543, known as the Axon bill, at this time.

However, the city council did vote 6-1 in its Sept. 12 meeting to file a notice of claim, which acts as a place holder in case the city does want to file lawsuit in the future.
