Scottsdale City Council restrains budget review commission’s responsibility

Also takes commission chair appointment rights away from mayor

Controversy continues to swirl around the city council’s budget review commission - the creation of which was a major campaign promise for first-term mayor Lisa Borowsky

The Scottsdale City Council went against Borowsky by limiting the role of it’s budget review committee and who could appoint it’s chair during its Oct. 7 meeting.

The council voted 5-1 to remove the mayor’s ability to appoint a chair to the budget review commission and limited the scope of its work to stick solely to the budget and stay away from things like development fees and taxes. Councilman Adam Kwasman was not present in observance of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.
