Scottsdale City Council rejects contract to promote Old Town

Vendor asks for second chance

The search for an advertising agency to promote Old Town Scottsdale will go on ... maybe.

The Scottsdale City Council voted 5-2 during its Dec. 2 meeting to reject a contract with the Scottsdale-based James Agency because of the cost.

The city has a $1.3 million budget generated from bed tax money to promote Old Town. Based on the company’s fees of $170 per hour, an estimated $600,000 would be left to go to advertising, with the rest going toward administrative costs.
