Scottsdale City Council members fight over water but approve tentative budget

The Scottsdale 2026-27 city budget won’t be any larger than $2.1 billion but the lack of almost $274 million in water projects in the city’s capital improvement plan has some council members upset.

After a public hearing in which three people spoke, the City Council approved the tentative budget, which means the numbers in the document can be still be juggled but the total amount is capped.

After considerable debate on the subjects, the council approved the tentative budget 6-1, with City Councilwoman Maryann McAllen being the lone dissenting vote May 19.
