Scottsdale junks effort to scrub general plan of diversity, sustainability language

The Scottsdale City Council axed plans to srub all references to diversity and sustainability from the general plan during a Monday meeting.

Scottsdale City Manager Greg Caton issued a press release late Saturday stating he has withdrawn the item from the meeting agenda after consulting with acting City Attorney Luis Santaella.

“Because the focus is now on state statutes that the city is already in compliance with, there is no requirement or need for the City Council to initiate these changes (and thus, no need for the agenda item),” the press release said.
