Scottsdale City Council indecisive about Charlie Kirk memorial

Councilman confident memorial will move forward

The movement to build a memorial to conservative political activist Charlie Kirk on municipal land appeared to be going nowhere after the Scottsdale City Council’s Dec. 1 meeting.

Vice Mayor Adam Kwasman originally asked for a memorial to Kirk at the city council’s Nov. 3 meeting. However, council members couldn’t come to an agreement on the issue at that time and ultimately directed City Manager Greg Caton to research the issue and come back to the group with a report.

Assistant to the City Manager Will Brooks went back to council during it’s Dec. 1 meeting, mainly asking for direction on what the members would like to see in a policy governing the creation of a memorial for the founder of Turning Point USA, which advocates for conservative ideals on high school and college campuses.
