Scottsdale City Council eliminates DEI programs

The Scottsdale City Council took a page out of Donald Trump’s playbook during its Feb. 11 meeting by passing an ordinance eliminating the city’s diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

The council also ordered acting city manager Greg Caton to find new positions for the city’s diversity program director and Americans with Disabilities Act/Title VI compliance coordinator.

The vote was 5-2, with council members Solange Whitehead and Maryann McAllen against the moves.
