Scottsdale City Council asked to increase police pay

Scottsdale Police currently has more than 30 officer vacancies

The Scottsdale City Council is being asked to approve salary increases for its sworn police officers at a meeting next week.

On Aug. 22, the Scottsdale City Council meeting agenda includes adopting a resolution authorizing the implementation of a pay step system for sworn employees, which includes officers, sergeants, lieutenants, commanders, assistant chiefs and the police chief. If approved, the pay step system would be effective Sept. 11.

The resolution will also increase entry-level pay by $1.70 an hour, bringing it to $32.10 per hour.
