Scottsdale City Council approves property tax, water rate hikes

The cost of living in Scottsdale is going up, but some council members say residents are getting things like top of the line police and water service for their buck.

The Scottsdale City Council voted 4-3 to increase the city’s property tax rate from .09071 cents to .09814 cents per $100 of assessed evaluation during its June 13 meeting. That means the city’s part of annual property tax for a median priced home in Scottsdale is going up about $47 to $371.64.

That’s not the whole tax bill property owners are facing though. In fact it’s only about 15% of the bill as the other 85% goes to schools, the county and special districts (like flood control district). The whole property tax bill for a median home in Scottsdale is typically around $2,500 a year.
