North Scottsdale United Methodist Church, 11735 N. Scottsdale Road, is hosting a Christmas cantata and reception 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 17.

The Chancel Choir's presentation of "The Christmas Light," accompanied by a full orchestra, will take place in the sanctuary. This cantata draws inspiration from the compositions of Haydn, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Praetorius and Schubert, interwoven with Christmas carol melodies by Gruber, Handel, Mendelssohn and Wade.

Following the performance, there will be a hot cocoa bar reception in the fellowship hall, as well as a craft "make & take" station.
