Scottsdale businesses struggle after city closes street in Old Town

It’s 1:30 p.m. on a Thursday afternoon and James Lenstrohm is munching on some lunch inside his barber shop, the Dapper Devil, while one of his stylists cuts a teenager’s hair nearby.

He’s got plenty of time to eat. The kid, a visitor from Utah, is his first client of the day. He’s got another cut scheduled for 3 p.m. but that is the definition of a slow day for him.

“I’ve had two people today, two people yesterday and normally I’m around anywhere between 10 to 20 a day,” Lenstrohm.
