Scottsdale agrees to terms to turn water back on in Rio Verde foothills

Agreement now goes to County supervisors for approval

Water from a city-owned standpipe that serves hundreds of Rio Verde Foothills’ homes may soon be flowing again.

The Scottsdale City Council unanimously approved Tuesday night an agreement with Maricopa County to allow water haulers to use the standpipe near the intersection of Jomax and Pima Roads.

The agreement calls for the city to buy the water, treat it and sell it to the county, which in turn would sell it to commercial water haulers to serve the approximately 700 homes in the community northeast of municipal borders that rely on hauled water.
