Phoenix looks to expand micromobility program along light rail corridor

A year into Phoenix’s micromobility program, city officials are considering expanding the program beyond downtown and re-exploring the use of more traditional pedal bicycles available for rent in addition to e-bikes and e-scooters.

Councilmember Laura Pastor gave staff a list of directives for the year-old micromobility program during last week’s Transportation, Infrastructure and Planning Subcommittee meeting. Chief among them was to expand the current system — which allows people to pay on the spot to rent an electric scooter or bicycle — to be within 2 miles of light rail in the city.
