School board majority supports Scottsdale teacher accused of wrongdoing

The Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board is standing with an embattled teacher accused of using mirrors in his classroom to inappropriately look at students.

The board voted 3-2 during its Aug. 8 meeting to deny an appeal of the district’s findings that nothing wrong had been done by the teacher. Board members Amy Carney and Carine Werner voted against the motion to deny the appeal.

The teacher, David Faulkner, a sixth-grade social studies teacher at Cocopah Middle School, has retained his job and is also the school’s junior varsity volleyball coach.
