Thousands of people came to the opening of one of the Valley's newest and largest sporting goods stores Saturday at the Chandler Fashion Center.

Scheels officially opened its first Arizona store at 9:30 a.m.  Saturday, with people lined up outside to be among the first customers by 7 a.m.

Valley team mascots, local officials, business booths with giveaways, parachutists,  a ribbon cutting, Basha High School musicians and some food trucks were all part of the festivities.

Customers were lined up both indoors and outdoors at the mall to shop at the 260,000-square foot store.
