Scammers more common than ever in Sun City

Residents should always be cautious

Residents who are looking for love need to make sure they are not looking in all the wrong places.

Romance scams are very common these days, especially in senior communities, according to Jesse Brizendine, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputy services aide. He takes up to four calls per week about fraud, scams or cons and the majority of those are romance scams, he said.

“I took a call on a romance scam where the victim lost $2 million,” Brizendine said during a Sept. 6 Sun City Posse meeting.
