SB 1570 is a political stunt — Republicans should say so

Former LD29 GOP chair calls out state Sen. Jake Hoffman on ICE at the polls bill

OPINION — Arizona State Sen. Jake Hoffman’s latest bill, Senate Bill 1570, would require Arizona counties to “welcome” ICE agents at all polling locations.

It’s a reckless, self-serving proposal designed not to secure elections — but to score  political points with the loudest, most extreme faction of his base.

Let’s be clear: voter intimidation is never acceptable. Full stop. The presence of federal immigration enforcement at polling places — whether symbolic or real — would have a chilling effect on lawful voters, poll workers and election officials.
