A procession and public memorial service for fallen Gila River police officer Joshua Briese will take place Saturday morning, beginning in Chandler and ending at Sun Valley Community Church in Gilbert.

Briese died a week ago after responding to a disturbance at a home in Santan, District 4, of the Gila River Indian Community.

Saturday’s procession begins at 8:10 a.m. at 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, according to the Gila River Police Department. It will head east, then north on McQueen Road and then east on Ocotillo Road to Lindsey Road.

The procession will end at Sun Valley Community Church, 5545 S. Lindsey Road.

The memorial service will start at 9 a.m. and is open to the public, police said. Parking spaces are limited. Overflow parking is available just east at Robert Rice Elementary.
