EPCOR meets with residents to discuss rates, consolidation

Plans to file in June

Sun City West residents have paid the same rate for water since 2019, but later this week the process will begin for EPCOR Utilities, Inc., to raise the water rates.

The company is filing a water rate case with the Arizona Corporation Commission for all of its water districts, excluding San Tan. According to a statement from EPCOR officials, the proposal includes three primary components: consolidating smaller systems – Gateway, Sun City, Sun City West and Rio Verde – into the larger Sonoran district, introducing a more gradual approach to adjusting certain costs over time and revising the water usage tiers in Paradise Valley.

According to Sarah Skaggs, associate director of customer operations at EPCOR Utilities, Inc.,  the company will file this month. Standalone rates with no consolidation and a three year phase in gradual step to about $54.41 for all customers using about 7,000 gallons.
