Sanor: ACA must be protected for the health of Arizonans
The Affordable Care Act — signed into law 12 years ago this week — made it so that hundreds of thousands of Arizonans could access quality, affordable health care. Since then, more than one million Arizonans with preexisting conditions have been protected.
Last year, as a record number of Arizonans were able to get coverage, many were able to find plans for as low as $10 per month.

The Affordable Care Act — signed into law 12 years ago this week — made it so that hundreds of thousands of Arizonans could access quality, affordable health care. Since then, more than one million Arizonans with preexisting conditions have been protected.

This law prioritized Arizonans’ health and well-being — not insurance companies’ profits — and our state is better off for it. And yet, the Republicans running for Senate have all made it clear that they oppose the ACA and are running to repeal it whether Arizonans like it or not.
Take Mark Brnovich, for example, who is so committed to repealing the ACA that he wasted taxpayer dollars pushing his own agenda to try and get it struck down. Thankfully, he’s failed so far, but he’s joined by primary opponents Blake Masters and Jim Lamon in their continued support of repealing the ACA if elected to the Senate.
Arizonans — including communities here in Pinal County — rely on this program. I was proud of the ACA the day it became law 12 years ago, the day Sen. John McCain saved it five years ago, and I’m proud of it today.
It’s pretty simple: Anyone running to repeal ACA and throw countless Arizonans off their coverage is out of touch with our state and wholly unfit to represent us in the Senate.
