WEST VALLEY PREPS

Sanchez grows into baseball stardom for Deer Valley

Shortstop headed to Paradise Valley CC

Top middle school players in northwest Glendale and Phoenix simply do not end up in a Deer Valley baseball uniform.

But the Skyhawks made up for a bit of the talent gap with a late bloomer that grew into one of the best players in the West Valley.

Senior Alex Sanchez burst onto the scene last spring, batting .539 with 20 RBI and 25 runs. He is only rising in his final year of high school, batting .555 with 19 RBI, 28 runs and 16 stolen bases through his first 21 Deer games.
