San Tan Valley incorporation to go to voters

Members of San Tan Valley Inc. submitted more than 10,600 signatures in an effort to get the question of incorporation on the August ballot. On Friday, the Pinal County Board of Supervisors called an election for Aug. 5 to decide the issue.

Voters will get to decide whether San Tan Valley becomes a town following approval from the Pinal County Board of Supervisors to place the question on the ballot.

At a special meeting on Friday, the board of supervisors unanimously approved calling an election for Aug. 5 on the issue of incorporation.

Residents who live within the proposed borders of the incorporation area will be voting in the election.
