Safety protocols followed in Thompson Ranch incident

Evaluations will continue on district procedures

School resumed as normal Aug. 15, after a incident involving an individual trying to gain access on a Dysart Unified School District campus.

The incident occurred Aug. 12 when an person that appeared to have a handgun unsuccessfully attempted to gain access to Thompson Ranch Elementary School in El Mirage via an exterior door.

A district crisis team was on campus to provide support for students and staff that needed to speak to a counselor or get additional support services.
