BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Sabres defenseman Mattias Samuelsson is listed as week to week with a lower-body injury, leaving him in jeopardy of missing the start of the season.

Coach Lindy Ruff provided the update on Wednesday, a day after the seventh-year player was hurt while blocking a shot in a preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Sabres open the season on Oct. 1 at Columbus, and Samuelsson has been playing on Buffalo’s top defensive pairing alongside captain Rasmus Dahlin.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Sabres defenseman Mattias Samuelsson is listed as week to week with a lower-body injury, leaving him in jeopardy of missing the start of the season.

Coach Lindy Ruff provided the update on Wednesday, a day after the seventh-year player was hurt while blocking a shot in a preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Sabres open the season on Oct. 1 at Columbus, and Samuelsson has been playing on Buffalo’s top defensive pairing alongside captain Rasmus Dahlin.

Buffalo could be down another blue liner with Olen Zellweger placed in the concussion protocol after also being hurt in the exhibition against Columbus. Zellweger was acquired in a trade with Anaheim in June and projected to fill a top-four role.
