Russell Terrell Gough, 94, of Surprise, Arizona, passed away on December 26, 2023 after 96 years of giving people the business. Russell was born on July 23, 1929 in McCammon, Idaho to parents Terrell Gough and Viola Kohler. Russell's parents were farmers in Idaho. Russell served the United States Armed Forces in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force. He achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force, the highest enlisted rank. Russell managed the terrain avoidance systems for B-52 airplanes. He was the smartest person on every airplane he flew on. He maintained a pain-free back since a trip to Korea in the 50's. Russell met Elizabeth 'Betty' Nahass in New Jersey and they married in January of 1955. They were married for sixty-six years. During their marriage they lived many places while Russell served in the military, but they settled in Arizona in 1973. Russell and Betty had three children - Liz Leigh, of Surprise; Russell Gough, of Glendale; and Patricia Jones, of Surprise. Russell and Betty had six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. For many years after his military retirement, Russell worked for Leaseway Transportation as a leasing agent, and then as a driver for The Forum and Sierra Winds assisted living facilities. Russell was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his brother Harold, his sister Norma, and a bull he killed with his bare hands while logging in the Pacific Northwest. Russell is in the care of Surprise Funeral Care at 16063 W. Bell Rd., Surprise, Arizona.
