Russell: 'Monsoon' describes a year's entire season
Posted
Letter by Mo Russell of Apache Junction
Please be aware that the word monsoon describes the entire season of a particular year.
The front page of the July 2022 issue of the Apache Junction/Gold Canyon Independent said “Prepare for monsoons.” Should have said prepare for the monsoon season.
Page 4 got it half right as it said monsoon season but then below said again prepare for monsoons, which would entail several seasons.
I have lived in Arizona since 1960 and still hear way too many not understand this. Please educate our residents.
