APACHE JUNCTION - Ross Hacker of Apache Jct., went home to be with the Lord on March 3, 2011. Ross was born in Forest Jct., Wis., on Oct. 11, 1917, to Robert and Lydia Hacker. He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Glenn; and sisters, Ruth and Mary Ann. He is survived by his wife, Arline Hacker; four daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and David Flitsch of Gold Canyon, Constance and Phalan Schuler of Gold Canyon, Ronda and James Michels of Las Vegas, Nev., and Marcia and Bradley Woody of Springfield, Mo.; grandchildren, Daniel, Steven, Marlo, Kimberly, Katelyn, Jacob; and 11 great-grandchildren. Ross married Arline Schmidt on June 12, 1942 and began farming Lone Chestnut Farm, Route 1, Brillion, Wis., raising purebred Ayrshire cattle and Chesterwhite hogs. They were active members of Zion Evangelical United Brethern Church in Forest Jct., until retiring in 1981to Arizona City. In 1996 they moved to Apache Jct. and joined Gold Canyon United Methodist Church. He held offices in Wisconsin Ayrshire Breeders Assn.,Midwest Ayrshire Club, World Dairy Expo, Wisconsin Feeder Pig Coop, N.E. Wisconsiin Pork Producers Assn, Wisconsin Chesterwhite Breeders Assn. and served as Clerk of Town of Brillion for 16 years. Ross was progressive in his farming technology receiving awards from Wisconsin Dairyman Assn., National Ayrshire Constructive Breeder and Wisconsin State Dairy Herd Improvement Assn. He was selected as Calumet County Outstanding Farmer of the Year for his community service and leadership. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 7 at 11 a.m. at Gold Canyon United Methodist Church. Memorial service and interment will beheld in Forest Jct., Wis.
