Rosenberg: Neighbors' lights way too bright

Posted

We love watching the night and for many years have enjoyed the relative darkness of Paradise Valley. But now we have new construction and new neighbors who seem to feel that the brighter the night skies are, the better.

Now we can only watch the moon and sometimes Jupiter and Venus who are the brightest objects in the night sky. We tried watching the Geminid meteor shower last week but the ambient light from the neighbors’ outside lights made it impossible so we only got to see two. And now with the Christmas lights, I’m surprised planes don’t try to land on our street.

Can we respectfully ask our neighbors to cut their light output by half? Seeing a dark sky again would be lovely Christmas present for us night watchers.
Thank you very much.
