Rose Carlson, 75Sun City West resident Rose Carlson died June 28, 2008, after a gallant struggle against cancer.Ms. Carlson was born April 25, 1933, in Lefor, N.D., into a family of 11 children. She left home at an early age and settled in San Francisco where she met her future husband, Roy. They married in 1957 and eventually moved to Washington state.Summers were spent at their lake cabin, which they built themselves, in northern Minnesota. They worked together developing property he acquired before their marriage.After her husband's retirement, they enjoyed cruising and traveling to various parts of the world. She worked in the food preparation industry for several years and from that experience she became an accomplished cook and baker.She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, Sun City West Women's Club, Ceramic Club and Copper Enameling Club. She also enjoyed square dance, bocce ball, and playing bridge and canasta.She is survived by her loving husband; a son, Rex; two brothers, John and Joe; three sisters, Maggie, Evelyn and Angie; and numerous nieces and nephews.A memorial service was conducted July 2 at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Gunflint Trail Historical Society, 201 S.
