Social workers protested at school board meeting

An opinion that more school resource officers are needed at Peoria Unified schools has come up at recent board meetings.

Specifically, the conversation about SROs has been driven by new board member Heather Rooks and a group of people speaking during the public comment sections.

The issue came up again at the Feb. 23 Peoria Unified governing board meeting, this time when the board considered a routine agenda item about grant funding for social workers.
