Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central and Northern Arizona — RMHCCNAZ — will host its Heart of the House Island Party at the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale, to raise funds for children and their families traveling to the Valley for treatment of serious, often life-threatening illnesses and injuries.

Presented by La-Z-Boy, the event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, according to a press release, detailing the “home-away-from-home” arrangements for families to stay together and near medical resources for their ailing children.

The event supports RMHCCNAZ’s mission of helping those seeking critical medical care for the children by providing nights of comfort and rest at no charge. Island Party will transport guests to white-sand beaches and turquoise waters, as they travel across the grounds of the historic Hotel Valley Ho.

The evening will include live and silent auctions, a trip raffle, dinner and dancing, all benefiting RMHCCNAZ’s mission to keep families together and close to medical resources for their children. The program will also celebrate RMHCCNAZ 2023 Heart of the House Honorees, long-time McDonalds owner-operator Bob Souza, and corporate champion Hotel Valley Ho, the release said.

“Our mission is made possible by champions like Bob and Hotel Valley Ho, who really put their hearts and hard work forward to support the work we do for families,”

RMHCCNAZ CEO Kerry Schulman said in the release. “We are absolutely thrilled to be honoring them, and to host this event for our community of supporters and new friends who want to learn more about our organization.”

Co-chairs of the event are Christy Napolitano-Wernau, McDonalds owner-operator with the Wernau Organization, and Robert Caldwell, of Crescent Crown Distributing, both of whom serve on the RMHCCNAZ board of directors.  La-Z-Boy is in its third year as a presenting sponsor of the event, with Phoenix McDonald’s Owner/Operators as the platinum sponsor, and gold sponsor Tyson Foods, noted the release.

“La-Z-Boy is known for comfort. It is also our goal to bring comfort in any way we can to our local community,” Frank Neal, senior director of retail – Southwest Region for La-Z-Boy, stated in the release. “Our employees care about our community and our commitment to service goes beyond the walls of our stores. It is our privilege to partner with RMHC in sponsoring this event that brings comfort to families facing some of life’s most difficult moments.”
